This rifle started out life as a Model 1907/15 infantry rifle and was converted to a Forestry Carbine in 1848 in Turkey, likely at the Ankara Arsenal. slight wear woodwork presents exc., some light handling marks to stock & forewood crescent steel buttplate with brass sliding trap has been fitted with WM MALCOLM 6X optics, scope mounts utilize factory dove tail to top of barrel & dust cover rails to receiver scope optics are clear, comes with original steel dust caps overall in exc. After the war, Turkey found itself having problems with illegal logging of its rather valuable Circassian walnut forests and decided that it was necessary to arm its forest ranger service. note 'orman' is turkish for forestry. sights fore sight, 50-95 etched to top of barrel before action cycles extremely smoothly, trigger is crisp blued finish to loading gate showing v. berthier 1907-1915/full wood carbine/ 8x50 lebel / 3 shot clip./bore is rough from neglect in service /in 1948 turkey refurbished & rebarreled & fitted a foresight protector & then proofed them to fire balle n.
